Protesters demanding “fair care” for people with Alzheimer’s and dementia staged a march through Watford high street earlier this month.
The 30 strong group was joined by Watford MP, Claire Ward, and Mayor Dorothy Thornhill as they marched from the hornet, outside McDonalds, up to the town hall.
The protest was organised to highlight the inefficiencies in the levels of care people suffering from Alzheimer’s and dementia receive and the amount of support their carers are offered.
Kay Neate, branch chairman of Watford Alzheimer’s Society, said: “People with dementia are among those who require a lot of care over a long period of time, yet they are left to pay huge prices for care which is often inadequate.
Claire made a pledge in a speech on the town hall steps that she would do all in her power to bring the plight of Alzheimers patients to the attention of central government.
