Watford first stop for Mr Brown
 

Gordon Brown began his marathon leadership campaign with a whistle stop visit to Labour Party supporters in Watford.Mr Brown travelled by train from London to Watford Junction, and then on to the Labour Party HQ in St Albans Road by car, where he was greeted by Claire Ward. He then spent almost 30 minutes talking to supporters.

Mr Brown at part HQThe Chancellor's visit to Watford was the first time he had met Labour supporters since announcing his intention to run for party leader at a press conference at the Imagination Gallery in central London.He told Labour activists that there was no better place than Watford to launch his leadership campaign."You have got such a wonderful Member of Parliament here in Claire Ward," he said. We are all very proud of her. I'm really pleased that I can talk to party members today."

 

Mr Brown talks to Labour supporters Mr Brown became leader of the Labour Party on 24 June and Prime Minister on 27 June. Harriet Harman was elected Deputy Leader of the Labour Party and also became Party Chair.

Jim Knight MP -Schools Minister

 

Claire and Schools Minister Jim Knight MPEducation has always been one of this Government’s highest priorities. Claire recently put the concerns of her constituents to the Schools Minister Jim Knight MP in an online webcast.

Claire and the Minister discuss a range of topics including raising school standards, the choice agenda and teachers’ administrative workload. They also talk about two issues of particular local interest; the secondary transfer process and the sibling criteria in school admissions.
